May 4th Update

To my Dear Prayer Warriors,

Al and I have been enjoying some time at the beach this past week, and we are thankful for rest and sunshine and a time to pray.

We have decided to go to Sloan Kettering (a cancer center in N.Y.) on Tuesday. They are still waiting on some scans and tissue samples from my doctor, and the weather is not looking good so the plan may change. I will let you all know if things don’t go as planned.

For the most part I have felt pretty well these past few weeks. As you know, in mid April we did scans and labs and the tumor marker jumped up to 4279 (CA19-9). This past Monday we had our usual labs (every two weeks), and the labs showed the cancer marker had dropped to a little over 3100. We have been so happy and grateful to our God that the number went down and not up!

Perhaps Sloan Kettering will have another treatment that we can try as well. We are still inquiring of the Lord and praying for wisdom. I pray that they have a treatment because I do not want to go everywhere looking for answers. I am thrilled to have summer here to enjoy my children and grandchildren. My God knows that I still long to stay firmly in His hands and His will.

You have all been such amazing prayer warriors and friends who have encouraged us with your love, prayers, and help. I will try to let you know about Sloan Kettering’s report as soon as I know.

Ps 33:16-19
No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.
A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.
But the eyes of the Lord are on those that fear him, on those who wait on his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.

Please pray that these verses will describe our walk every day.

  5. Dearest Nancy,
As I reflect on the blessings and challenges we face each day, I wanted to take a moment to lift you up in prayer and share words of encouragement.

May God’s peace surround you, His wisdom guide you, and His love sustain you in all that you do. In times of uncertainty, may His light illuminate your path and may you feel His presence ever closer.

Here is a scripture verse that sustained me through Dad’s illness. I have an eagle statue that sits on a Bible on my dresser with this verse:

“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” β€” Isaiah 40:31

I will pray for you daily as you walk through this path of cancer and the doctors guiding your decisions. I believe in miracles, and our God is powerful and mighty.

I am happy knowing that your family is surrounding you with love and joy. May you find strength in the love of your family surrounding you, offering support, comfort, and encouragement every step of the way.

Wishing you a day filled with grace and hoping that the weather allows you to follow the path chosen for you.

    Constantly praying,
    Kathy
